This Week's Talk

And just like that, August is quickly coming to a close. It's never my favorite month because of the heat, but I do feel like it flies by as we approach fall. We tend to get busy during the end of this month because, on top of everything else, John picks up coaching JV football for his old grade school. And practice is 4 to 5 days a week, from 4:30 to 6 pm. And games start soon, on Fridays or Saturdays. That's a lot of commitments, and although I'm not the one doing the coaching, it increases the things on my plate too in terms of meals, laundry, home management, time management, and picking up the little things that fall off John's plate.

I've also been keeping up with my 75 Hard challenge and my year of no sugar, which means a good chunk of my time is spent on exercise and meal prep. I helped my mom place the kitten into her forever home (though I think my mom already misses the little rascal!) I got to see two friends in person this past week too, even though not exactly as planned because the street fest we intended to go to was canceled. We hung out at my house instead. It worked out for the best because Megan is in a boot due to a stress fracture (ouch), and we wouldn't have been able to walk and dance anyway.

I have more plans for this weekend too, all involving Betsy. We're heading for dinner and a street fest tonight since the boys are working (John at the firehouse and Kevin with his band), and then all four of us are going to lunch tomorrow at a German restaurant. It's on Betsy's 101 in 1001 list to try all the German restaurants in Chicago, and she's almost done. I like helping her check stuff off, because she does the same for me and it's motivating. Plus, we've been to this one before because John's family really likes it, so John can be helpful for ordering. It'll be a fun weekend to close out the month. And one that starts in mere hours, since I'm just counting down until Betsy's off work at 2!

Links I Love:

Books being adapted for the screen. Love that she made this list! Because the book is (almost) always better. There's just so much more of the storyline and details that can fit in a book that can't be in the movie without the movie being 8 hours long. I personally don't have a problem with seeing the movie first and then reading the book, but I know a lot of people want to read it before it comes out. So be sure to get on the library wait list for these before they become a movie! Which one are you looking forward to?

Fall date ideas. Personally I'm on board for all things Halloween and creepy, but this list also has other options if that's not your speed. Although John and I have our favorite date night traditions, it's always nice to add in seasonal things we don't do often. We're picky in what we find to be an enjoyable way to spend time, but we still found ideas here, so I recommend giving it a read if you're looking to plan something for the next couple of months.

Healthy daily habits. I posted two weeks ago about the every damn day list so if you're looking for some healthy ideas to incorporate into yours, or into your September monthly goals, this list has you covered. I don't bike ride or ever swap my coffee (though I do drink tea in addition to coffee), but other than that, I can say I do everything else on there! Feeling very healthy right now.
